Staff Clinician

 

The Intramural Research Program of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) is seeking a Staff Clinician for its Molecular Physiology and Therapeutics Branch (MPTB) in the Clinical Center at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland.   The NIDCR is a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). 

This is a full-time position to support clinical research activities of MPTB. The primary responsibilities will be the medical management of patients enrolled in a clinical study evaluating the safety of gene therapy using an adenoviral vector encoding human aquaporin-1 in individuals with irradiation-induced parotid salivary hypofunction and participation in treatment trials and natural history studies of Sjögren’s syndrome.  In this capacity the incumbent will provide medical care of patients and actively participate in the research aspects of various protocols. Up to 40% of the incumbent’s time may be dedicated to clinical research. 

The NIDCR is seeking a candidate with an M.D. degree with Board eligibility or certification in Rheumatology. Applicants with other medical subspecialty training and relevant experience in translational or clinical research or testing the autonomous nervous system will be considered. Appointment will be in the Staff Clinician (non-tenure series) series. Starting salary is commensurate with experience, and a full federal benefits package is available.
