Program Description

The purpose of the Kirschstein-NRSA, dual-doctoral degree, predoctoral fellowship is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined D.D.S./Ph.D. or D.M.D./Ph.D.

The fellowship experience is expected to clearly enhance the individual's potential to develop into a productive, independent physician/clinician-scientist.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • Enrolled in a D.D.S./D.M.D. program at an accredited U.S. dental school and accepted in a related scientific Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) program.
  • U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals, or permanent residents at the time of award.​

Students attending any accredited U.S. dental school may apply.

Length

Maximum of six years

Award Benefits

An annual stipend and partial tuition are provided.

Additional funds are available for other training-related expenses.
