Putting Prevention into Action: Community Water Fluoridation Webinar

NIDCR and the American Dental Association (ADA) hosted a webinar series titled 'Putting Prevention into Action' in observance of National Children’s Dental Health Month.
Community water fluoridation was acknowledged as one of the most effective, cost-efficient, and socially equitable methods to promote oral health. The webinar featured a panel discussion on current research regarding the effectiveness of community water fluoridation, the relationship between fluoride and neurocognitive development, and future directions of fluoride-related research. A question-and-answer session followed the presentations. Health professionals were eligible to receive continuing education credit.

Activity Objectives
After participating in this activity, learners will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- Understand current research on the effectiveness of community water fluoridation in preventing dental decay.
- Recognize the limitations of research on neurocognitive effects and fluoride exposure.
- Identify future directions for research on community water fluoridation and caries prevention, as well as fluoride exposure and children’s intelligence.
