NIDCR Invites Comments on Division of Intramural Research Organizational Change

NIDCR proposes to reorganize the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) and invites comments from the public.

Currently, the DIR comprises 25 investigators in 5 laboratories and branches. Under the reorganization, the DIR would comprise 25 investigators in 1 branch, called the Basic, Translational and Clinical Research Branch.

The proposed re-organization would:

  • Eliminate administrative “stove piping” and promote interactions and collaborations
  • Retain existing areas of research emphasis, allowing them to evolve without requiring reorganization
  • Promote a more participatory governance with input from all investigators

Proposed organizational structure:

Proposed organizational structure of the division of intramural research: top level: office of the scientific director. Second level: intramural management; office of the clinical director; basic, translational, and clinical research branch, with a subdivision for research laboratories; and research support.
