Dr. Denise Stredrick is acting director and chief of the Science Policy and Planning Branch in the Office of Science Policy and Analysis (OSPA) at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). As acting director of OSPA, she leads NIDCR activities related to science policy, scientific strategic planning, legislative affairs, analyses, and outreach.
Prior to joining NIDCR, Dr. Stredrick worked as a program officer in the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health where she coordinated the Understudied, Underrepresented and Underreported Women (U3) program; managed the policy and legislative activities; and led the effort to develop the 2019-2023 Trans-NIH Strategic Plan for Women’s Health Research.
Dr. Stredrick has guided the development of strategic plans for other NIH Institutes and Offices and worked as a scientific review officer for the National Cancer Institute.
Dr. Stredrick earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and a doctoral degree in Pharmacology with an emphasis on neurotoxicity from Wake Forest University.
