Biographical Sketch

Dr. Timothy Iafolla has been with NIDCR for 15 years, currently serving as Supervisory Science Policy Analyst and Chief of the Program Analysis and Reporting Branch of NIDCR’s Office of Science Policy and Analysis. As branch chief, Dr. Iafolla oversees operation of the Dental Public Health Research Fellowship.

Dr. Iafolla began his work with NIDCR in 2006 as a public health analyst. In this role he participated at the federal level in epidemiological research design, data analysis, policy analysis, and as core faculty for the Dental Public Health Residency program. In 2014 he was promoted to his current position.

Dr. Iafolla obtained his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and his dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a GP Residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Portland, Oregon. After eight years as a dentist in private practice, he attended the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health, receiving his Master of Public Health degree in 1991. He then worked as a Public Health Dentist in the North Carolina Division of Dental Health.
