Biographical Sketch

Dr. Yolanda F. Vallejo is Director of the Neuroscience of Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders Program at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). She manages a diverse portfolio of basic, translational, and clinical research focused on orofacial pain, neuropathies, and temporomandibular disorders and is actively involved in the NIH Pain Consortium, Interagency Pain Research Coordinating Committee, and NIH Neuroscience Blueprint.

Prior to joining NIDCR, Dr. Vallejo was a Program Director at the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD) and served as a Program Analyst at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). Dr. Vallejo also held the position of Research Scientist at Pierce Biotechnology, Inc. where she conducted protein function research and product development. Dr. Vallejo received a B.S. in Biology from Loyola University of Chicago and a Ph.D in Neurobiology, Pharmacology, and Physiology from the University of Chicago.
