Luciferase immunoprecipitation systems (LIPS) is an immunoassay technology that harnesses light emitting proteins to generate high definition antibody profiles using antigens from human infectious agents and autoantigens from the human proteome. Shown is a schematic of the general principle of using light emitting recombinant proteins to measure antibody responses. The long-term goal of this research is to develop antibody biomarkers for prediction, diagnosis and monitoring of a spectrum of human diseases and infections that could be incorporated into an inexpensive and comprehensive disease surveillance technology.
