The figure shows that swapping the most C terminal charges from positive to negative of the endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ sensor STIM1 rescues the mutant TRPC channel in which the conserved negative charges were swapped to positive charges. This is a key finding in showing the STIM1 gates TRPC channels by electrostatic interaction.
