Provides 3 to 5 years of support and 75% protected time to newly independent scientists who have a concurrent NIDCR R01 or equivalent.

Eligibility

Eligible Individuals (Program Director/Principal Investigator)

  • Candidates must have a doctoral degree, be newly independent, and have peer-reviewed, independent support at the time the award is made.
  • Candidates must be citizens or non-citizen nationals of the United States or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence (i.e., possess a currently valid Permanent Resident Card USCIS Form I-551, or other legal verification of such status).

  • Research support: $15,000
  • Salary and fringe benefits will be provided by participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The total NIH contribution to salary, however, may not exceed the legislatively mandated salary cap.
