Medical Research Scholars Program
Program Description
Program Description

A comprehensive, 12-month research enrichment program for research-oriented medical, dental, and veterinary students.  Student scholars engage in a mentored basic, clinical, or translational research project on the NIH campus that matches their professional interests and career goals. Each scholar has an assigned tutor (year-long advisor) and works with an approved research mentor.

Eligibility
Eligibility
  • Medical students participate after 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year.
  • Dental students generally participate after 2nd or 4th year, due to integrated nature of clinical years.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. Good standing in medical, dental, or veterinary school.
  • Applicants in their 4th year who are selected must make arrangements with their school to defer graduation until completion of MRSP.
  • 4th year students participating in the National Residency Matching Program during the application cycle are ineligible Candidates currently enrolled in Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. programs are ineligible.
