FY 2017 Funding Policy

FY 2017 Interim Funding Policy

NIDCR is currently operating under a Continuing Resolution (CR) through April 28, 2017. The "Continuing Appropriations and Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017, and Zika Response and Preparedness Act" (Public Law 114-223) continues government operations at 99.504 percent of the FY 2016 enacted level. NIDCR’s interim funding policy for research and training grants is cited below:

In accordance with established NIH policy, NIDCR will issue non-competing research grant awards at a level below that indicated on the most recent Notice of Award (generally up to 90%) of the previously committed level. Upward adjustments to awarded levels will be considered after FY 2017 appropriations are enacted, but NIH expects institutions to monitor their expenditures carefully during this period.

The NIDCR will continue to provide individual consideration to all competing applications. For all competing R01 applications selected for funding, the NIDCR will reduce applications by 5 percent below the peer review recommended level of support. There is no fixed payline for R01 applications. NIDCR will consider scientific merit, program priorities, portfolio balance, and availability of funds in making funding decisions.

This funding policy will be updated once the FY 2017 appropriations are enacted.
