On October 13, 2020, Rena D’Souza, DDS, MS, PhD, was sworn in as the new director of NIDCR by NIH Director Dr. Francis S. Collins. Dr. D’Souza now oversees NIDCR’s annual budget of $475 million in dental and craniofacial research. After the swearing in, Dr. Collins tweeted: “Delighted to (virtually) swear in Dr. Rena D’Souza as #NIH @NIDCR Director today. … Great to have a renowned dental researcher at the helm!”
