The Combined Technical Research Core (CTRC) provides state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary biotechnology instrumentation and methodologies crucial for modern biomedical research to all scientists at NIDCR. Our mission aligns with the broader mission of the NIDCR Division of Intramural Research (DIR): to advance the understanding of biological processes relevant to dental, oral, and craniofacial health through basic, translational, and clinical research.

Overview

The Salivary Glands and Rheumatic Disease Program encourages basic and translational research on saliva and salivary gland biology and immune aspects of dry mouth and oral diseases. Mechanistic understanding of oral disease sequelae in the context of systemic autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and psoriasis are also of interest. The program encourages research in the following areas:
