Research Interests

Dr. Jahanmir serves as the assistant investigator for research protocol on 18D0121 "Natural History of Chronic Graft-versus-Host Disease in the Oral Cavity of Patients Following Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant and including Healthy Controls.”

She also serves as assistant investigator for “A multi-center, phase II, randomized double-blind trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of photo biomodulation for the treatment of oral chronic Graft-versus-Host disease after allogeneic stem cell Transplantation (the LIGHT trial).”

Biographical Sketch

Dr. Golnar Jahanmir was born in New York and grew up in Maryland. She attended the Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA, and the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry where she was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. After dental school, Dr. Jahanmir completed two additional years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the Children’s Hospital Boston/Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In 2003, Dr. Jahanmir returned to Maryland to practice pediatric dentistry. She joined Children’s National Hospital in 2004 and has been teaching one day a week at the at the Pediatric Dental Residency Program since. In 2021 Dr. Jahanmir joined NIDCR as a staff clinician and works as a Pediatric/Hospital Dentist. She also currently serves as the Chief of Dental Operations and the Chief of the Dental Consult Service. Dr. Jahanmir completed her board certification in pediatric dentistry in 2006 and is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Since the year 2000, Dr. Jahanmir has been volunteering annually at an orphanage in Honduras. Dr. Jahanmir speaks both Farsi and Spanish.
