NIH offers many training opportunities on how to effectively and safely conduct clinical research. Trainings include courses in biostatistical and epidemiologic methods, study design, protocol preparation, patient monitoring, quality assurance, ethical and legal issues, and much more. In addition, many career development opportunities, such as pathways to become a dentist-scientist, are available to help prepare individuals for careers in biomedical, behavioral, social, and clinical research. Below are examples of some NIH opportunities available.

Program Goals

  • Provide hospital-based training in dentoalveolar surgery and craniofacial/orthognathic surgery.
  • Immerse residents in cutting-edge clinical research related to the dental, oral, and craniofacial complex.
  • Publish high-quality research and mentor residents for future leadership in academic OMFS and research.
