Werner Lab Team and Office

We are fascinated by research centering around the post-translational modifier ubiquitin and how it regulates cell-fate decisions during human development. We are looking for motivated and passionate researchers from varied scientific, cultural, and personal backgrounds, who, like us, like to teach and learn in a collaborative, friendly, and hard-working environment. We have fully funded positions at all levels.

Postdocs

We are looking for motivated postgraduates that share our enthusiasm for post-translational modification with ubiquitin, cellular signaling, and stem cell biology. Postdocs will be able to start their own research program or to lead ongoing projects. Ph.D.-level experience in at least one of the following fields is preferred: Post-translational modifications, biochemistry, proteomics, human genetics, massively-parallel sequencing-based techniques, computational biology, or human genetics. Postdoctoral positions at NIH are fully funded. Please write a two-paragraph cover letter explaining your scientific goals and why you would like to join us. Please send it together with your CV and contacts for three references to achim.werner@nih.gov.

Ph.D. Students

There are two ways for students to develop their thesis research in our lab:

  1. NIH-established partnerships with academic institutions.
  2. Individual partnerships established on a case-by-case basis.

If you like what we do and are interested in doing your Ph.D. research with us, write to achim.werner@nih.gov.

Postbacs

We welcome students who have been accepted or are interested in the NIH postbac program, and who want to learn about ubiquitin biochemistry, proteomics, and human embryonic stem cell culture.
