We use biochemistry, proteomics, hESC culture, and human genetics to study how stem cells utilize the posttranslational modifier ubiquitin to determine cell-fate choices during development. In particular, we focus on cell-fate decisions involved in neural crest and neuronal differentiation and whose mis-regulation lead to craniofacial and neurodevelopmental defects.
