Achim Werner: Stem Cell Biochemistry Unit

Overview of research

Our Goal

We use biochemistry, proteomics, hESC culture, and human genetics to study how stem cells utilize the posttranslational modifier ubiquitin to determine cell-fate choices during development. In particular, we focus on cell-fate decisions involved in neural crest and neuronal differentiation and whose mis-regulation lead to craniofacial and neurodevelopmental defects.
