NIH recently announced the renewal of the Science of Behavior Change (SOBC) program, including the SOBC Resource and Coordinating Center, a national hub for scientists to collect and disseminate resources for rigorous behavioral science. NIDCR is among seven NIH institutes, centers, and offices providing support.

The Office of the Scientific Director (OSD) provides leadership and managerial oversight for all research, training and related activities within the Institute's Division of Intramural Research (DIR). By understanding dental, oral and craniofacial health and disease in the context of the whole body, we will transform how we promote health, treat disease, and overcome health disparities, so all may lead healthy lives.

The NIDCR Special Grants Review Committee (SGRC) is governed by the provisions of Public Law 92-463, as amended, which sets forth standards for the formation and use of advisory committees.

This page lists the 20 initial COVID-19 research projects that NIDCR funded nationwide as supplements to existing extramural grants. The projects seek to address critical needs, such as minimizing infection risk in dental environments, improving SARS-CoV-2 detection in saliva, and exploring mechanisms of viral entry into oral epithelial cells. The studies range from clinical to basic research, and many are conducted through the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network (National Dental PBRN).
